06.06.2003 - In June 1997, MAN Turbo secured an order to supply two compressor packages for a natural gas injection facility in Burma. The centrifugal compressors are directly driven by a gas turbine.
Following a train test in the Leeds test field, the plant was commissioned in 1998. A further centrifugal compressor, type RB 40-6, was added in 2002.

Surplus gas is injected into the production field, thus stabilising its pressure for further oil extraction. High-pressure compressors used for gas injection exhibit a high degree of machine impermeability, low internal leakage levels and reliability at high pressures.

Using the compressor package to inject gas makes it possible to extract further mineral oil from reserves in which the “natural” gas pressure would not be sufficient for oil production purposes.
