19.05.2003 - In 2002 a customer ordered a complete machinery train from MAN Turbo for a fertilizer company in Slovakia. An integrally geared compressor was used for a urea application for the first time in this order. The plant operates according to the Stamicarbon concept, and MAN Turbo has signed a cooperation agreement with Stamicarbon for this application. The plant is being delivered in 2003.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is rinsed in an upstream ammonia process and mixed with a small quantity of air. Following subsequent compression, the carbon dioxide mixed gas is processed with ammonia to produce fertilizer.

The integrally geared compressor concept offers the benefit of a 20 % increase in capacity compared with the single-shaft version used previously.
